Begin with the basics. Don’t go overwhelming yourself with all the numerous materials and resources available online. The first thing to learn is HTML and CSS. Next is JavaScript, but I would recommend that you learn a CSS framework like Bootstrap or Tailwind CSS first before diving into JavaScript.

Practice what you have learned by taking up small projects and building small applications like an image gallery website, a portfolio website, a static blog, to-do list, interactive quiz, static business page, landing page, etc. Once you have mastered steps 1 and 2, you have officially become a frontend developer, and you can begin to take clients’ frontend jobs and start earning. Remember, all you need to master for this skill are HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, and what you will be building are static websites (meaning no login, no register, no form submission, etc.). There are frameworks out there that you can venture into later, like VueJs, React, etc. Optimizing your skill will always give you an edge.

To begin building responsive, fully functional websites, apps, and software, web developers work with languages, libraries, and frameworks such as PHP, Python, NodeJs, Java, C++, Django, Zend, Code Igniter, Laravel, Ruby on Rails, Drupal, SQL, Oracle, etc. 

Do research for which will be suitable for the kind of application and software you are now interested in, and begin your learning journey to success.

Learn Git Version Control. According to Free Code Camp, Git is a distributed version control system that records different versions of a file (or set of files). It lets users access, compare, update, and distribute any of the recorded version(s) at any time. However, GitHub is mainly a hosting platform for hosting Git repositories online. This is important for programming. No worries, it is easy to learn and simple to use than it sounds. 

Do Not Skip Steps! Be patient with yourself, you will get it right but of course, practice, practice, practice.

Lunch your online portfolio. People want to see sample sites and applications you have developed to be able to trust you. It will also serve as a platform for you to try out new technologies, tools, and also test your skills.
