HOW TO SET AND ACCOMPLISH YOUR NEW YEAR'S GOAL EFFECTIVELY.

This is the time of the year when we all reflect on how we have lived in the previous year and set new goals to improve ourselves or hit the reset button to start all over again but better this time. Either way, it is important to find out what has and has not worked in the previous year towards accomplishing our set goals.

THE GUIDELINES ON HOW TO ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS
- First, your goal(s) must be specific and time-bound. Make sure that what you are about to commit yourself to is relevant to your personal or professional growth, you want to choose something that you're passionate about and genuinely interested in.

For example, I want to learn digital marketing this year, which is not specific. I will learn digital marketing in the 4 weeks of January, which is specific and time-bound.

So, reflect on it, and ask yourself, am I passionate about digital marketing? What do I want to achieve after learning this? Will it be of any benefit to my professional or personal growth?
If you can answer these questions correctly and positively, then you have a goal.

- Next, you want to make sure it is something you can be accountable for, something doable. Something you believe you can accomplish against the odds once set. Do you have an outstanding goal set in the past that you have not yet accomplished? You may want to settle that first before setting a new one, except they are now totally irrelevant to you.

It is better and always okay to set small goals that are achievable than to walk the deadly path of self-discipline. Sometimes, It is also okay to adjust your goals to ensure success especially when you experience a drawback for some reason, maybe a health challenge or otherwise; or when you have to deal with a lack of motivation. Just take a little break, do something different for a few hours or a day, and get back to work. Either way, don't stop, don't quit.

- Next, ensure to put in place a way to measure or track your progress. You can mark a calendar; get a close friend or family who understands and care about your goal enough to ask you from time to time, "How is it going?". With a progress measurement system, you'll always know you're going in the right direction. It will help you stay positive and focused.
- Lastly, reward yourself for achieving your goals. Treat yourself to something nice. Maybe a dinner, take a nap, see a movie, just do something fun but make sure the reward is not the reason why didn't accomplish any of your set goals.
I hope you accomplish great goals this year.
